Environmental Medicine

Environmental Medicine is a sub-specialty of Alternative Medicine which focuses on environmental factors causing impacts on health.  Natural and unnatural aspects of our environment play roles in the homeostatic balance of the body.  Traditional Chinese Medicine is the oldest branch of Environmental Medicine.  TCM theory is based on how rhythms of the environment can adversely effect the balance of energy flow within the body.  Factors such as cold/heat, dampness, and wind are a small part of the pathogenic factors attributed to disease in the traditional Chinese model.  Dietary changes and various modalities such as acupuncture treatments are used to balance the energetics within the body and regain health.  Many of these methods are still used by alternative health practitioners. New fields are developing in response to the vast array of manmade pathogenic factors.  Large corporations and governments are exposing the masses to a multitude of harmful environmental factors such as:

  • Pesticides/herbicides/chemical fertilizers
  • GMO foods
  • Food additives such as stabilizers/preservatives, color/flavor enhancers, and artificial sweeteners
  • Petroleum based health and beauty products
  • Petroleum based food packaging
  • Fluoridation/Chlorination of water
  • Pharmaceuticals in food and water
  • Vaccination protocols
  • Energy sector air pollution of heavy metals
  • Toxic byproducts of chemical and pharmaceutical industry
  • Electrical devises and electrical wiring EMF fields in home/work environments
  • Television and radio broadcast antennas
  • Home/work/school WiFi networks
  • Cell Phone Microwaves Towers
  • Satellites radiofrequency signals

Physicians specializing in Environmental Medicine understand how these factors effect health and educate patients on health effects and mitigation.  Lifestyle changes and avoidance are the first step with all of the above factors.  Detoxifying the body from past exposure thru natural cleansing is the next step in the process.  Avoidance and detoxifying the body is very successful in the treatment of many conditions related to environmental exposure. A vast array of exposures cannot be limited such as radiofrequencies. While other such as allergies can be corrected negating the need for avoidance. In this office we offers corrections for both radiofrequency exposure that cannot be controlled and allergies that do not need to be avoided.

Chronic exposures can lead to health conditions which are not simply corrected with the basic lifestyle changes.  A great tool used in this office is Environmental Testing.  For many years it has been helpful in detecting and correcting allergies.  In recent years it has been proven useful in testing and treating radiofrequency exposure illness.  The link between radiofrequency exposure and energetic disturbances in the immune and neurologic system has become an integral part of the therapy performed in our clinic.  With the use of red and near infrared light therapy by laser and LED applications, we are able to retune energetic mechanisms altered by manmade radio/microwave and EMF frequencies.

Environmental Testing

Environmental sensitivity testing thru kinesiology evaluates the reaction the nervous system exhibits during presentation of different environmental exposures.  When the body is faced with a stressor our sensory nervous system redirects the majority of incoming information to the primitive parts of the central nervous system.  The primitive areas of our nervous system control the unconscious systems such as locomotion/posture tone, heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure, and digestion to name a few.  Conscious control is performed by the cerebral cortex which is the thinking and intentional action part of our brain.  When conscious control becomes secondary during a threat to homeostasis of the system our musculoskeletal system is primarily being controlled by more primitive motor centers in the midbrain, brainstem, and cerebellum.  These centers deal with posture tone, locomotion, and other subconscious motor functions.  The conscious centers control intentional movements.  When the body is preoccupied with an environmental stressor our conscious control of muscle contraction is weaker.  We take advantage of this to test the effect different environmental factors have on the body.  If something is perceived as a threat intentional muscle testing will reveal weakness during the exposure.  During evaluation we have the patient laying comfortably on their back to test leg strength while presenting the body with different environmental factors.  If exposure causes weakness during the test we know the energetic interaction causes a stress reaction in the body.  The stress reaction is a nonspecific event it does not tell us how the body is going to react when exposed to the specific energy, it only tells us the body is preparing to deal with a perceived threat.  In some cases the body will deal with it by starting a simple immune response such as an allergy. Others more complex cellular changes may be effected which alter cellular functions such a radiofrequency exposure.

Environmental testing should really be called energy testing.  Energetic testing evaluates how the energetic sensors of the body react to an introduced foreign energy.  Biologic science has long understood how the body functions from the macro (organ systems) perspective all the way down to the micro (cellular) function.  Chemistry studies how the different elements interact forming molecules based on charge compatibilities.  Biologic chemistry studies how large molecules form and interact such as enzymes and DNA. Quantum physics is bringing new theories revealing interactions occurring at electron level with photonic energy.  Opening the door to concepts that change the rules of the previous physical sciences.  Energetic flow within the biologic system has many behaviors at the cellular level never conceived before.  Quantum Tunneling shows that wave energy of electrons can move through a system in ways never realized before.  This tunneling mechanism is opening the possibilities of better understanding how we interact with our energetic environment thru senses.  For example the sense of smell is now being reconsidered.  Previous models believed that lock and key mechanisms explained interactions with the environment and olfactory sensors.  A fragrance molecule has a shape that would fit on a receptor in the olfactory nerve endings, which elicited nerve firing to the brain and we recognized a smell.  This new model is similar in mechanism to light hitting the retina. Wavelengths of light excite the retinal receptor electrons forming different colors or patterns recognized within the brain.  New research is finding smell is an infrared wavelength sensor, we sense the infrared energy emission from the molecules which excites electrons at matching levels of the olfactory receptors.  We then interpret the smell in the brain.

This new model better explains the communication mechanisms between cells in a more complete model than the older theory of lock and key communication.  In many situations such as smell the lock and key mechanisms have limitations.  We have 400 smell receptors in the human nose but yet we can detect a trillion different scents.  Smell scientists could only explain this by assuming multiple receptors must bind a particular particle to get a single scent.  The new model is similar to guitar strings with each receptor having a wide array of frequencies within it to match to the frequency of the molecules.

The outer surface of our cells are covered with protein receptors for communication with the outside environment.  Our immune system uses antibodies free floating in the blood but more importantly bound to white blood cells.  These receptors are sensing the energy of the environment detecting self-versus foreign invader and creating a memory of which foreign substances are dangers.  Every cell has protein receptors on the surface with multiple functions.  Some control basic functions such as absorbing nutrients from the extracellular fluid and others bind communication signals from local and distant cells.  Hormones such as insulin carry its unique energy signature and is secreted when blood sugar elevates after a meal.  Cells will activate membrane proteins that transport sugar into the cell when they require energy. When insulin finds this matching receptor protein energy transfer will occur allowing the protein to transport sugar into the cell.  Insulin carries an inherent infrared signal emission and the insulin receptors receive the signal by photonic signaling without direct physical contact.

What is an Allergy?

The conventional mechanism of allergies is  based on the IgE mediated  adaptive immune response.  When someone develops an allergy they are having an immune reaction to a non-threatening substance we normally have exposure to.  Common allergies are dust mites, dairy, pollens, wheat, peanuts and pet hair.  Substances that we are exposed to regularly and have been for many years.  When these substance interact with our skin and mucus membranes specialized cells called Langerhans cells will sense their presence.  They are called dendritic cells because just like dendrites in the nervous system they have multiple fingerlike projections which are in contact with the outside world either in our skin or mucus membranes.  These projections squeeze between the epithelial cells to survey the outside world.  When they sense a new danger they capture that protein and relay this protein to other white blood cells first the T-cells.  The T-cells will then process the new information and relay it to the B-cells which induce production of the IgE antibodies.  These antibodies will circulate in the blood but more importantly another type of white blood cell called mast cells will attach these antibodies to their membrane.  Mast cells just like dendritic cells are sentinels populating the external layers of our body in our skin and mucus membranes.  When the mast cell encounters this protein it releases histamine to begin the immune attack on the invader. This is the old model which requires physical contact of dendritic cells to invader and antibodies to invader.

Histamine release causes:

  • Increase capillary permeability flooding the tissues with fluid and allowing white blood cells to migrate to the periphery
  • Increase mucus production
  • Peripheral vasodilation increasing blood flow
  • Smooth muscle contraction resulting in bronchial constriction
  • Increase chloride pumping in the intestines to promote secretory diarrhea
  • Increases acid production in the stomach

The symptoms related to Histamine release:

  • Runny nose
  • Watery eyes
  • Itchy skin and hives
  • Swelling of the entire body
  • Stomach upset
  • Diarrhea
  • Difficulty breathing possibly asthma attack.

The new model of protein receptor communications would describe the above mechanisms with a subtle difference.  The dendritic cells have a specific frequency range within the infrared spectral range they are sensing.  This range excludes any frequency which would be part of the body and previous known pathogens. If it senses a harmful invader which most likely would be the result of an innate immune cell attacking it in response to cell damage invader inflicted.  The dendritic cell will relay this new frequency of the invader thru the immune system to produce IgE antibodies tuned to the new pathogen.  This new receptor migrates to the mast cells. The new mast cell IgE receptor is primed to this frequency. When the central processing center sends the proper signal the mast cell reacts by releasing histamine.

Mistaken Identity

So why is the body having such a strong immune response to proteins that are not harmful?  Why is the reaction so over the top that it can result in anaphylaxis and cause death?  To answer these questions we have to understand what the evolutionary development of the IgE antibody and the histamine mediated response was adapted to neutralize.  Elimination of parasites is the only other event which triggers theIgE mediated immune response. The immune reaction associated with IgE mediated immunity induces a flushing of the system to prevent a parasite from invading while the other branches of the immune system migrate to the area.  The reaction may be extreme because the quantity of proteins caused by a common allergy would be in large numbers, which would indicate an extreme parasitic invasion and therefore an overreaction. The mistaken identity theory of allergies assumes that our established antibodies produced against known parasites are now mistaking non-parasitic energy signatures of allergens as the target.  Something is causing the established IgE system to be slightly out of tune.  The allergen is similar in energy frequency to previously exposed parasite creating a mistaken identity. This mechanism of mistaken identity is not found exclusively in the allergic response.  Autoimmune disorders and endocrine disorders share similar mechanisms of receptors failing to recognize counterpart molecules.

Radiofrequency Therapy

Radiofrequency exposure can negatively effect multiple aspects of cellular physiology and therefore change complete systems in the body.  Predisposition to a certain frequencies ability to alter cellular function is poorly understood.  It appears that individual frequencies can be offset naturally by the body and not effect physiology in some people.  Certain people are not bothered by radiofrequencies at the presenting level of exposure.  The genetic predisposition of the individual and the constitution of health are most likely the factors involved. Sensitivity to radiofrequencies have a threshold.  We have seen people who are having no issues eventually become sensitive over time, especially when new technologies introduce a new frequency.

Energetic testing is performed to assess neurologic reactions to a particular frequency.  During testing we can discover which frequencies the nervous system is creating an alarm reaction against.  It can be assumed that if the nervous system is having a reaction it is effecting the entire body.  The muscular and the nervous system are the highest energy utilization systems in the body and will fail first via known mechanisms of radiofrequency protein/water alterations (full mechanism can be found in (radiofrequency Illness article) and resulting firing frequency changes in nerves. Testing is only telling us the nervous system if reacting to that frequency.  The level of illness can vary greatly from person to person.  Some individuals are having simple musculoskeletal or gastrointestinal issues as a result of the body being in constant alarm state inducing excessive sympathetic nervous system tone dominance. Others may have more advanced issues relating to cell receptor alterations such as loss of smell, autoimmune, allergies, multiple chemical sensitivities, and hormone imbalance.

Energetic therapy using red light overrides the negative effects of manmade radiofrequencies. The above image shows the electromagnetic spectrum.  Manmade frequencies are in the radio and microwave frequency range. This range is not naturally coming from the sun unless a major solar event occurs.  The life giving frequencies from the sun are in the infrared, visible, and ultraviolet frequencies. These frequencies energize our body to the normal energetic state life evolved under.  Red and near infrared light energy excites the vibration of molecules especially water driving many of the quantum dynamics of energy transfer in the cells.  The lower frequencies produced by manmade technologies alter quantum dynamics and negatively effect cell function.  Research has shown multiple benefits of different natural frequencies delivered by low level laser therapy.  Red light at the 635 nanometer wavelength is especially beneficial at restoring cellular energy production and nerve firing patterns.

Treatments are performed by combining exposure to problematic frequencies and low level laser 635 nm red light stimulation at precise locations over superficial nerves.  Superficial nerve stimulus with red light normalizes firing frequencies in the nervous system and overrides the offending frequencies effects.  After a treatment the nervous system restores normal firing rates of sensory nerves balancing the central nervous system.  Multiple sessions may be needed to eliminate imbalance created by long term exposure.

Once all offending frequencies have been eliminated it is important to incorporate early morning and late afternoon sun exposure for optimal healing.  During sunrise and sunset the most optimal frequencies of sunlight in the near infrared and red light range are highest and the UV range are lowest.  During the winter months red and near infrared lights can be used to supplement for decreased natural sun exposure.  Red and near infrared lights are also beneficial for very ill patients during the recovery process.
